About me

My name is Fataneh Rahaghi. I am a visual artist, painter, potter, craftsperson, and art educator, based in St. John's, NL, Canada.

Art is my way to see what is within and without.

One of my all-time favorite human activities is simply observing the world around me. There's something magical about taking a moment to watch life unfold — whether it is the vibrant interactions of people, the gentle sway of nature, or the hustle and bustle of daily life. Every glance reveals a new story waiting to be uncovered.

Some of my works

Here are some of my most recent works in various mediums.

Hilltop in the Afternoon, 2024

Sense of movement in the midst of serenity is the main theme behind this work. The colors are blended and subtly layered to give a sense of atmospheric perspective. Trees, the primary subjects, are rendered in a way to highlight their individual character, emphasizing their slender forms. The lighting conditions bathe the scene in a gentle light, creating a calm and serene atmosphere. The muted color palette and soft light further contribute to a sense of introspection.

Domestic Tranquillity, 2019

Expressing a sense of warmth and care. The arrangement is intentionally balanced to communicate this sense. The undercurrent is a vibrant expressionism characterized by thick, visible brushstrokes. The overall atmosphere, therefore, is one of peace and contemplation, portraying a moment of domestic tranquillity.

Containers with Wooden Lids, 2022

The medium is cermaic. No complex or extravagant detailing, just simple shapes and repeated patterns to create a subtle visual rhythm with a focus on consistent aesthetic. The technical execution involves a smooth and glossy finish to the ceramic.

A female figure in fluid form, 2023

The mixed-media (watercolour) composition centers around a seated female, positioned in a three-quarter view. To focus on the fluidity of form here, it has applied soft and muted colours. This work exhibits a light and airy approach with smooth transitions.
